Supreme Law of the Land   posted March 08, 2010

We have been so busy lately that we are somewhat behind on our blog, but that has allowed us to listen to voters and hear what is on their mind.  One thing that continues to come up  is the following question:  "What do you believe about the Constitution?"  Well, I'm glad you asked!

I believe and always have that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land.  Sadly (and any attorney will tell you this), what is taught in law school is previous court cases and very little Constitution.  I have been asked many times about the Enumerated Powers Act, which would require Congress to specify the source of authority under the United States Constitution for the enactment of laws.

It is sad that any member of Congress would feel it necessary to introduce such legislation.  The Constitution is without question one of the most famous documents in the world, yet so few of our citizens and elected officials take it seriously or have any real knowledge of it.  Any legislation that is proposed should always be studied through the lens of that old, but relevant document that we all hold dear.  It has held us together for well over two hundred years BECAUSE it is our supreme governing document.
