Fred is pro-life. He believes that we should encourage a culture of life. He opposes embryonic stem-cell research and cloning. He also opposes the use of our tax dollars being used for abortions performed through international organizations.
The Bill of Rights are rights for the individual; therefore, the Second Amendment is an individual right. Fred would never vote to confirm any judge or cabinet level official who had shown hostility to or made statements contradicting the privileges guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.
Fred believes we need to secure our borders – he is NOT anti-immigration. He believes that to do nothing is not an option; sadly, the Republicans want cheap labor and the Democrats want cheap votes. This is precisely why this problem is being ignored. Meanwhile, the drug gangs continue to invade our southern border. To add further insult, Latino women are being trafficked for sexual servitude and prostitution; this is nothing short of slavery, and not only should we be ashamed, we should also stand up and protect the human rights of these women and young girls.
Fred is a strong supporter of our military. He and his wife have family serving and believe they deserve our constant support and respect.
The United States is a sovereign nation; however, Fred realizes that we have a unique leadership role in the world. When the United States speaks through its leaders, it should always be clear where we stand as a nation. We should forever be on the side of freedom for those who seek it, speaking firmly to would-be tyrants.
Fred believes that recent events in Latin America deserve greater attention by our government. Sadly, the turmoil in Honduras was met by our own administration with an obvious lack of understanding about this region. Additionally, any government official in Latin America who partners with Hugo Chavez of Venezuela should not be propped up by our White House or State Department, both of which were on the wrong side of the latest crisis in Honduras. If we do not stop, or at a minimum cease to encourage, these Chavez-style governments by our neighbors to our south, we could be in for a huge human rights crisis in just a few short years.
Health care reform should not wreck the health care plans of millions of Americans who are satisfied with their current plans. Fred would NOT support a one-size-fits-all single payer government health care plan. This would be a disaster and would not serve Americans’ health care needs.
If the current health care bill being pushed by Democrats in Congress is passed, I would vote to repeal it!
Fred is an unapologetic supporter of Israel. Israel has an absolute right to defend herself. They are our only true ally in the Middle East.
Judges should not legislate from the bench. They exist to interpret law – not presume to make it.
Fred recognizes there are serious economic problems that we are facing today; however, he believes the stimulus package is aimed in the wrong direction and will only contribute to inflation in the future. He is concerned that these government bail-outs could soon become never-ending entitlement programs.
Fred believes in traditional marriage and believes it should be protected.
